Thiago Motta has denied the notion that he has any kind of pre-agreement with any club, amid the rumours that he is set to join Juventus.

Milan’s process to find Stefano Pioli’s heir is ongoing but it must be said that Motta ticks a lot of boxes on paper, given that he knows the league and has a track record for developing young players. He is a name we have consistently reported over the past few weeks, based on our information.

Antonio Vitiello of MilanNews recently reported that next few days are crucial in deciding what Motta’s fate will be. Bologna would like to keep him for their maiden Champions League campaign and renew his deal, so they will have a meeting with him, but Milan are there ‘working under the radar’.

Motta has ‘had a verbal agreement with Juve for some time’ but as long as it remains verbal and not written anything can still happen, as Milan have learned when it comes to transfers.

Motta spoke at his pre-match press conference and he was rather predictably asked several questions about what the future holds for him, with the responses relayed by PianetaMilan.

What does it feel like to have sealed Champions League qualification?

“It was a wonderful week, the credit goes to me too but the protagonists are the boys. I enjoyed a wonderful moment, something historic that we demonstrated was possible. Now let’s think about finishing in the best way, finishing third in the league would be to add something else to all the fantastic things we have done… always without any pressure.”

Will you meet Bologna about your future?

“In the next few days I will meet with the president, we will make a decision together and we will communicate it jointly. The time to do it is coming, but it must be done internally and with great respect for everyone.”

Have you already decided where you might go?

“I haven’t decided anything and I haven’t signed anything. Next week we will have to meet, talk and communicate the decision together.”
